Cat. #00549022: NANCY WALKER

Vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a 3.25 x 5.25-inch lined notebook leaf, acquired in-person in the 1940s, at the very onset of her film career, and affixed to an off-white card in later years. Diminutive, wisecracking character actress Nancy Walker first entered films in comic supporting roles, as in Best Foot Forward (1943), Girl Crazy (1943) and Broadway Rhythm (1944). After 25 years of the same, she gained new fame on television, as Bounty paper towels' Rosie the waitress, and intrusive Jewish mama Ida Morgenstern on "Mary Tyler Moore" (1970-1973) and "Rhoda" (1974-1978). She was also memorable as the mute maid in the cult favorite Murder by Death (1976) and Sophia's wisecracking sister Angela on "The Golden Girls" (1987). Alas, nominated for eight Emmy and four Golden Globes for her collective work on television, the beloved dynamo somehow never won.
